- Huge congrats to Chris Hamel on completing his Masters degree Chris is officially the first Master’s student from our lab. He started with me during my second year as a PI, and I definitely learned as much from this process as he as (if not more). On top of the typical challenges associated with graduate work, Chris also found time to get married and buy his first home, and met setbacks related to the covid pandemic with maturity and determination.

- Exciting Times for the Visger Lab - NSF IOS Grant Awarded NSF IOS 1754072, Collaborative Research: RUI: Understanding the effects of ploidal level on responses to global change in plants is a research award for a project investigating the effects of ploidal level on fern gametophyte physiology and gene expression during periods of climate stress. This is a collaborative project between the Sessa lab at University of Florida, the Watkins lab at Colgate, and the Visger lab.
- Funding awarded to study yeast polyploids CSU Program for Education & Research in Biotechnology (CSUPERB) awarded us funding to pursue our project titled: Integrating synthetic RNA normalization with Ribo-seq to evaluate the genome-wide impact of polyploidy at the interface of the transcriptome and the translatome in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
- Congrats to Serena! Time to break the update hiatus with some good news. Serena, one of the first members to join the Visger lab, was just the Biology Laureates Endowed Scholarship.
